INTERFACING THE METROPOLIS:

Strategies for partial control

This is not a review of an ideal city per se, but instead an exploration of the work of Rem Koolhaas and OMA in the Field of Urbanism. Spanning several projects, essays, and books, I seek to establish a continuous narrative regarding Koolhaas' complex understanding of the way in which modern cities work, and to explain two of OMA's seminal planning strategies within that context. The interface with metropolitan complexity is as close to an ideal that one could imagine within the environment exposed by Koolhaas' writings.
